Donald Trump's Website Hit in Targeted, Criminal Strike

(IntegrityMag.com) – Albert Einstein allegedly remarked that he had no idea what weapons we might use to fight World War III, but that World War IV would “be fought with sticks and stones.” It’s becoming increasingly clear that if the third major global conflict of our age happens soon, it will feature cyberwarfare. The latest target of this kind of attack was none other than former President Donald Trump.

On Monday, October 18, some visitors to a page on the former president’s website saw what appeared to be a quote from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The page, which a self-styled “hacktivist” had apparently compromised, directed readers not to emulate people “who forgot Allah, so Allah made them forget themselves.” The webpage also featured a link to an Erdoğan speech in which the president quoted from the Quran.

Though reports of this breach have only emerged this week, it appears the hacker may have made the change as long ago as October 8. The attacker may be the same individual who attacked President Joe Biden’s campaign website last November.

Donald Trump used the website as his primary means of communication with the public. Major social media and streaming sites almost uniformly banned him from posting on their platforms earlier this year in the wake of the Capitol riot on January 6.
