NASA Partners With Musk To Send More People to the Moon

NASA Announces Stunning New Project

(IntegrityMag.com) – Eccentric multi-billionaire Elon Musk hasn’t been an unusual headliner in news stories this year. At one point, Musk appeared poised to buy social media platform Twitter and take it off public exchanges, though the status of this deal is now uncertain. More recently, the entrepreneur and innovator has been working with NASA to send astronauts to the Moon.

In 2021, the national space travel agency revealed it had joined forces with SpaceX, Musk’s company, to put humans on the Moon again. There has since been considerable progress on this joint venture, which aims to put a woman and a person of color on the Moon for the first time in history.

On Tuesday, June 28, NASA launched a CubeSat satellite from New Zealand as part of an initiative called the Cislunar Autonomous Positioning System Technology Operations and Navigation Experiment, or CAPSTONE.

If all goes according to plan, the satellite (roughly the size of a microwave oven) will orbit the Moon before returning to earth. Experts in charge of the project hope the satellite will provide valuable information about potential future manned flights to the Moon. Specifically, researchers hope the flight will guide how a larger craft might reach the Moon with greater energy efficiency than has previously been possible.
